Happy New Year

There is just something about a new year starting that brings excitement. Perhaps it's the opportunity to start fresh---new beginnings, a clean slate.
Are you someone that sets resolutions, creates a vision board or maybe has a word you focus on for the year? Maybe you don't do any of these.
Last year I had a word that I focused on and it really was something that I worked on throughout the year. It really was my word of the year.
This year feels different though. Without even really realizing, I've set some long term goals for this new year. However, these goals aren't rigidly set for 2026. If I haven't reached these goals by the end of the year, they'll simply roll over. No pressure, no guilt.
You see, it isn't that I don't have a plan to achieve these goals or that I don't want to achieve them this year. I'm actually a recovering perfectionist and I used to get really down on myself for not completing my resolutions.
Over time I've realized that some resolutions may take more time than we plan or expect to come to fruition. Sometimes there are things beyond our control that can limit the achievement of these goals in this single year.
I don't want to let circumstances get me down or make me feel like I have to give up on my goals, just because they weren't achieved in a single year.
What I really want to focus on this year is actively working towards these aspirations. If I get to the end of 2026 knowing that I kept working on my goals even when it was hard and it didn't look like things were going to pan out then it will be an achievement to have kept going and to have not given up.
That's not to say that you can't have resolutions in a set time frame. I just know focusing on progress is what works better for me. That's the beauty of it, you don't have to do what everyone else is doing. You get to choose what works best for you.
What about you? Are you a resolutions, words, or flexible goals person? Have you set any for this year?
Tell me in the comments. :)
Happy Tea (or coffee) Drinking,
Stephanie
